Lakes, forests and oceans as one water-and-life system
Rain that falls on forests is held by soil, flows into lakes and reaches the sea. What happens upstream shows up downstream, so our programmes work on the whole system.
One connected system
Forests slow rainwater and let it soak into the ground, which recharges groundwater that feeds lakes and wells. Lakes that receive clean, settled water can support fish, birds and plants. Mangroves and coastal vegetation filter what reaches the sea and buffer the shore.
Our three programmes are designed to work together. Lake restoration reduces the pollution and silt that reach the water. Afforestation holds soil and rain on the land. Save Ocean keeps waste and erosion from reaching the coast.
